Helping Girl Scouts
At GirlsCodeIt, we work to help girl scouts earn their coding basics badge through our free courses for different coding languages and different workshops. Introducing fundamental coding concepts and problem thinking skills to young brilliant girls, we are dedicated to
teaching influential women in the STEM field.
We have instructions for the Coding Basics badge, as well as the Digital Game Design and App Development badges. A typical badge earning method with us is through a series of lessons that cover the curriculum of the badge while also being interactive and fun. We currently have worked with Scratch for these sessions.
Our curriculum includes four 1 hour long sessions, but we are flexible with the number of sessions we offer. We request a donation of $20 for an entire badge earning event with 4 sessions. Based on the sessions we plan on providing, this can be accommodated for. Times are also flexible, but most of these events will be held in the Fall, especially around STEMtember.
We have partnered with the Technovation Girls Program to provide live coding workshops open to girls all around the world (ages 10-18). Through these workshops, we have equipped them with the skills to code their own functional apps in Thunkable, MIT App Inventor, Android Studio (Java), and XCode (Swift) for submission to the Technovation challenge.
